| What is cardiac rehab? |  |
| Cardiac rehabilitation is designed to help people with cardiovascular disease improve their health and quality of living. The emphasis is on aerobic activity to improve cardiovascular fitness and may also include muscle strengthening and flexibility. During the rehabilitation sessions, heart rhythms are continuously monitored and blood pressures are measured before, during and after each exercise session.

What type of program is WHC’s cardiac rehab? |
| Waverly Health Center’s cardiac rehab is a "Phase 2" program. This means it is a supervised outpatient program that includes exercise, life-style changes, education and emotional support for people who have had a heart attack, bypass surgery or other heart problems. This program is medically supervised and individually designed to enhance your quality of life.

| Who is eligible or can benefit from cardiac rehab? |
Cardiac rehab is for men and women of all ages. You can benefit if you have or had:
Stable angina
Heart attack
Bypass/valve surgery
Balloon catheter (PTCA)
Stent placement
Heart transplant

How do I participate? |
|
Being part of cardiac rehab is simple. Your physician will sign a doctor’s order for you to participate. The cardiac rehab staff contacts you to schedule your initial appointment. The sessions are approximately one hour, meeting either two or three days per week. The program usually lasts for four to twelve weeks depending on the participant’s activity level.

| WHC offers a full range of exercise and monitoring equipment, as well as an expert team of caregivers that includes registered nurses specially trained in cardiac rehab, nutrition and diabetes educators, pharmacists and a social worker. |

Does insurance cover cardiac rehab? |
|
Cardiac Rehab is a service provided and billed by Waverly Health Center. Medicare and most major medical insurance carriers will pay a portion of the cost. Each individual should contact his or her insurance company to determine coverage. |
