 Spotlight on Values - Meet the Winners
 
 Thank you for your nominations! Please keep nominating employees, physicians and volunteers who you feel are a great example of our values. Each month we take the nominations received and a nomination committee selects one person for each of the values.
 Meet the Monthly Spotlight Winners:
  
 
 The winner for COMPASSION is:  Sheila Rosengarten.
 "Sheila Rosengarten of Readlyn, massage therapist, was recognized for the value of compassion. Nominated for her quick actions to assist a patient after surgery, Sheila used massage and aroma therapy to help soothe the patient. Sheila is respected by staff and patients because of her kindness and positive attitude."
 
 The winner for ENTHUSIASM is:  Connie Yanda.
 "Connie Yanda of Waverly, cardiovascular services, was recognized for the value of enthusiasm. Nominated for her excellent bedside manner and professional care, Connie helps patients understand each test she performs. Her positive approach to her work is noticed and appreciated."
 
 The winner for EXCELLENCE is:  Diane Kohls.
 "Diane Kohls of Waterloo, director of clinic operations, was nominated for the value of excellence. Nominated by her staff members for her leadership skills, Diane works hard and makes sure that any concern is taken care of promptly. She is respected for being a caring and compassionate leader. "
 
 The winner for INNOVATION is:  Becky David.
 "Becky David of Waverly, business office manager, was nominated for the value of innovation. Nominated for her vision and new ideas, Becky implemented a job shadow program at the health center. Her ideas have lead to improved communication and increased employee satisfaction."

 Meet the Physican Spotlight of the Quarter:
  Dr. Clay Dahlquist Receive - Fourth Quarter 2009

WAVERLY, Iowa - Dr. Clay Dahlquist has received Waverly Health Center’s (WHC) medical staff Spotlight on Values award. Nominated for his compassion, Dr. Dahlquist is an example of WHC values in action.

Dr. Dahlquist is recognized by WHC staff and patients for providing a humanizing touch to health care. One nominator wrote, "Dr. Dahlquist sees every patient for what they are: a person, a fellow human, someone's child, parent or spouse."

In addition, Dr. Dahlquist is recognized for going above and beyond his duties as a physician. He takes the extra time necessary to make sure every patient need is met while also making sure the patient is cared for emotionally. WHC staff also appreciates his willingness to jump into any situation and lend a helping hand.

Dr. Dahlquist specializes in family practice and emergency medicine and began his career in Waverly in 2005. He will be joining the Christophel Clinic at Waverly Health Center this spring in order to provide family medical care to area residents. He received his undergraduate degree from Wartburg College and his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University.

Waverly Health Center has adopted five values which include compassion, enthusiasm, excellence, innovation and integrity. The Spotlight on Values program recognizes Waverly Health Center employees, volunteers and physicians for demonstrating these values. Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for the WHC Spotlight on Values honors. Nominations can be submitted on-line at www.WaverlyHealthCenter.org/spotlight.asp or at any Spotlight on Values ballot boxes placed throughout the health center.
